Is this your first time considering summer camp for your son? If so, you may be wondering about some of the activities that he will experience during his stay. Summer camp is a wonderful chance for your son to grow and develop while learning new activities, leadership skills and much more. There are generally specific activities that camps are known for, like horseback riding or canoeing, but they also will certainly offer other types of activities as well. Here are some of the great activities that are typically offered at a boys summer camp.

Kayaking and Canoeing

One of the most popular summer camp activities for boys are kayaking and canoeing. For most boys, the canoe trips they take while at summer camp are filled with memories that will last a lifetime. Your son will learn all about canoe safety, canoe skills, paddling, maneuvering and much more. Many camps will offer overnight canoe trips as well, that can last for a day or two through to a couple of weeks.

Swimming and Diving

Another very fun activity that many boys will love is swimming and diving. There is nothing better on a hot summer day than jumping into a cool lake. Many camps offer swimming lessons, diving lessons and more. If a camp offers a lot of water activities, like canoeing, swimming will surely be on the schedule. Daily swimming lessons are generally commonplace at most camps and they are all taught by highly trained and registered lifeguards.

Archery

Many boys cannot wait to get their hands on a bow and arrow. Summer is a great place to experience archery for the first time, too!  Qualified instructors will teach your son all he needs to know about picking up a bow and arrow from learning how to be safe while shooting to adjusting for wind conditions.

Ropes Courses

Finally, many camps have made the investment into building up ropes courses on their properties. Ropes courses bring many benefits to campers from learning how to succeed with a team to facing fears head on. Ropes courses are always done in a safe way and you can be sure that every safety precaution, from helmets to harnesses will be worn at all times. Some of the things that ropes courses may involve include climbing walls and even zip lines.

These are just a few of the activities that are offered by summer camps. There are many more, however, that haven’t even been mentioned yet. Some of these include crafts, learning about nature, orienteering, survival skills, and hiking. Summer camp can be an amazing experience that can bring your son so many wonderful advantages. There are summer camps of all types out there, so you will surely be able to find one that is perfect for your child.
